Stevie Wonder and The Obama Soundtrack

January 15th, 2009

With Barack Obama about to take office, he’s definitely bringing a new type of swing to government, including a full-fledged soundtrack. Featuring cuts by Black Eyed Peas, Sheryl Crow, Melissa Etheridge, Jennifer Hudson, Robin Thicke, Lionel Richie and others, the first single to drop is Stevie Wonder’s new original song “All About the Love Again”.

Apparently, Obama’s quite the Stevie Wonder fan:

“If I had one musical hero, it would have to be Stevie Wonder. When I was at that point where you start getting involved in music, Stevie had that run with Music of My Mind, Talking Book, Fulfillingness’ First Finale and Innervisions, and then Songs in the Key of Life. Those are as brilliant a set of five albums as we’ve ever seen.”

I’m all for breaking new ground and achieving some new firsts, but having your own administration soundtrack? Yes, he can!

Obama may have to give up e-messaging

November 17th, 2008

Interesting that the President of all people in today’s world has to go without e-mail. People are constantly shocked that the last Bill Clinton and George W. Bush didn’t use computers much, and now we know why. Could it be Obama that changes this trend and builds an open, mobile line of communication with his presidency?

Edward Norton’s Obama Documentary

November 7th, 2008

After the lackluster Incredible Hulk, I’m glad to see that Edward Norton was actually able to find a project worth his time and effort during the last few years. Apparently, HBO has already expressed interest in the project, but regardless, I’m anxious to see the finished product.

Since 2006 — starting with Obama’s trip to Africa — Norton and his team have had the cameras rolling every step of the way. The whole project was kept fairly secret — since neither the campaign nor Norton wanted it to fuel any criticism of Obama’s ‘celebrity’. Last month, Norton spoke briefly about the project to the Vancouver Sun saying, “We’re making a historical record, not something to play a role in the election. So we have an agreement with [the campaign] that we won’t talk about this, or publicize it until the election is over. I can’t talk about access [but] it’s a fascinating thing to document.”

Obama Campaign Redux: The reasons he won

November 5th, 2008

“Barack Obama has won a much deserved and long-fought campaign. Everyone will be talking for weeks about the reason why — political trends, economic slumps, Sarah Palin, etc., but I think we all need to realise that Obama has successfully run the first truly 21st century campaign, and thereby the first branded campaign. That is the principal reason for his victory.” LINK

Obama/Biden 2008

August 24th, 2008

Obama/Biden 2008. Now there’s a combination I think I can get behind. I’ve always been a great admirer of Joe Biden and his “to-the-point” way of conducting business and can’t help but wonder how effective he could be in executive office. In other words, I’m down for some of that.
